Frameworks for Life

Every 1UpEDU kit includes access to the 1UpEDU Framework for Life and a curated collection of tabletop and video games. The Framework provides guidance on using these games to positively impact your school’s climate and help students build meaningful connections. By simply opening the box or pressing play, students will engage with one another, breaking down social stereotypes and barriers in the process.

Our NGSS-aligned Game-Based Framework for STEAM challenges students to collaborate, cooperate, and communicate effectively as they tackle problem-solving and critical-thinking tasks in assigned STEAM projects. Through our curated Unit Plans, you and your students will integrate the design thinking process with elements from the gaming industry, fostering employable STEAM skills and real-world connections.

Preparing Socially Awkward
Students for Life

Embrace the power of Haven's Quest, a Role-Playing Game designed to help socially isolated and awkward students build friendships, develop real-world social skills, and collaborate to overcome challenges in a supportive small-group setting. As the Game Master, you will guide your chosen students through ten engaging Adventure Scenarios, each carefully aligned with the P21 Framework and CASEL's 5 Core Competencies.

Promoting Leadership
and Social Philanthropy

Inspire your students to make a difference by organizing a fundraiser for a local charity, participating in a community clean-up effort like restoring a nearby creek, or raising awareness for an important cause. 1UpEDU is a professional development and curriculum framework that uses gaming clubs to build student leadership, social emotional skills, and community engagement. By connecting SEL with social philanthropy, the framework empowers socially isolated students to grow into confident, active contributors within their schools and communities.

  • Use gaming teachable moments to emphasize postive Social Emotional Learning Lessons

LEVEL 3: A Cyber School Framework for Life

Through our Cyber School Framework, we actively recognize the need to connect students who attend schools virtually.  Like the "In Person" Framework For Life Curriculum, 1UpEDU has made it possible to empower students socially within the context of a Zoom or Google Meet session.   

Pathway 1: We train your staff to conduct scheduled game club meet ups.

  • Weekly, Biweekly, or Daily... it is up to you.

  • Learn how to organize gameplay sessions with Board Game Arena

  • Follow 1UpEDU lesson plans to promote Social Emotional Skills and reflection

  •  Identify teachable moments from each currated game where SEL comes into focus.

Pathway 2: 1Up staff operates your virtual club on a weekly basis for you.

Connect gaming with STEAM through hands-on projects in coding, art, storytelling, and design. Designed for all grade levels, each experience builds creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking while integrating CASEL-aligned SEL skills like teamwork, empathy, and leadership, turning play into purpose through a full STREAM approach that blends tech, arts, and innovation.

In addition to STEAM-based Gaming Units, this kit includes age appropriate 21st century STEAM challenges designed to be completed over the course of a single school year:

  • Middle School: Create an Online Presence

  • Elementary School: Animate with Hue HD

LEVEL 5: The Havens Quest SEL Adventure Series RPG

Haven’s Quest is a tabletop RPG that teaches Social-Emotional Learning through adventure, empathy, and storytelling. Set in the mystical world of Oak Haven, players unite as heroes on a journey to restore balance to their realm and themselves. Each quest mirrors real-life challenges such as conflict resolution, cooperation, and empathy, helping students build emotional awareness, leadership, and teamwork through cooperative play.

Havens Quest Features:​

  • SEL-Driven Gameplay: Each quest connects to CASEL’s 5 Core Competencies — self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

  • Guided Reflection: Built-in debrief prompts allow educators or counselors to translate in-game experiences into real-world lessons.

  • Flexible Structure: Works in small groups, after-school programs, counseling sessions, or classrooms.
